Fashionable First Lady

Move over, Barack Obama, your wife is stealing the spotlight! First lady, Michelle Obama isn't overseen by our President when they go out to events.  Michelle has always looked fashionable and chic in almost every outfit she has been in.  I've got to say, she is probably the most fashionable first lady.  Michelle keeps it conservative but not boring, and keeps head turning without being too noticeable.  She dresses her age but yet has this young and new look to it.  I absolutely love her outfits, and as a sixteen year old, I would wear almost all of them!

Eyebrow Threading

Waxing your eyebrows can be such a pain (and painful), and if it doesn't turn out right, you can look pretty ridiculous.  I found this article online about eyebrow threading.  Eyebrow threading is a method of hair removal which started in India.  Threading is a hair removal technique that uses cotton thread, which then is twisted and rolled along the surface of the skin entwining the hairs in the thread, and are then lifted quickly from the follicle. It is more precise than waxing and allows for better lines.  Eyebrow threading is a preferred hair removal technique for a number of reasons. Unlike tweezing or plucking, eyebrow threading removes one clean line of hair all at once, making it much quicker and easier to shape the brows.  So ladies, don't want to wax your eyebrows due to the pain? Try eyebrow threading!

Monster Mash Nail Art

Seriously, how cute are these nails?  I wish I would have seen this sooner because I would definitely get this done.  Having just a one color nail polish nowadays is so boring! So, which one is your favorite? My personal favorite would have to be the adorable cat with the pumpkin. So cute!

Unsafe Halloween Makeup

Trick or Treat!  Halloween is only 4 days away!  It's time to stock up on makeup that transforms us into vampires, cats, or clowns.  But, have you every noticed the ingrendients in that makeup?  Some contain cadmium.  Cadmium is a naturally occuring metal which can lead to bone, lung, or kidney damage.  The Ecology Center, an environmental group, tested 31 different types of novelty makeup that can be purchased at most temporary Halloween stores and found that more than half contained cadmium.  So when you are looking for makeup that can turn you from normal everyday citizen to an eerie, scary looking vampire, make sure you look at the ingredients and make sure that what you apply to your face will be safe.  Nothing this halloween season is scarier than what this makeup could lead to if you don't pay attention!

Fall Hair Accessories

I believe that accesories complete your whole entire outfit.  A simple bracelet or necklace can turn your simple, everyday look to going out at night beauty!  And you pretty much don't want to get me started on hair accessories.  I have the hardest time passing by them in the department store if I know I don't have any money left to buy one.  Hair accessories make your outift look so chic and cute.  A couple weeks ago I wrote about what's up and new in fall fashion 2011.  But now I'm getting more specific; today it's all about fall hair accessories 2011!  Thanks to one of my favorite fashion sites, http://www.beautyhigh.com/, you can see my top 5 picks that I highly recommend to girls everywhere!

I love how this headband is reversible.  On one side, it's all about the glitz and glam, on the other side, it's chic and adorable.

These pins are probably my favorite from this site.  I love how there are many different colors to choose from, and even just on one pin there are different colors on it.

Pain is Beauty

I love having long hair that feels full of volume and looks beautiful.  I'm pretty sure I'm not the only who feels that way.  I'm lucky enough to have long hair that is easy to work with and can do almost anything.  Some short styles aren't so easy to handle.

The solution can sometimes be to get hair extensions.  Hair extensions have become the must-have accessory with celebrities and starlets, it's no wonder why ordinary women are going to their closest hair stylist and asking for longer and fuller hair.  Hair extensions attach to a person's scalp and you can either weave, glue, or clip it on. But, there can sometimes be side effects. I was reading some stories about hair extensions on http://www.yahoo.com/, and these stories changed my thoughts about the innocence of this must-have accessory.

Maya Romas, 22, started using clip-on hair extensions to make her hair fuller and longer.  After three months, she noticed that her hair was falling out near the extensions, and pieces of hair fell out randomly.  Romas decided to go to a hair loss expert.  The specialist diagnosed Maya with traction alopecia, a form of gradual hair loss caused primarily by a pulling force being applied to the hair.  The specialist told her to leave the extensions alone and the hair should grow back. After one year of giving up hair extensions, Maya Romas hair was back.

Unfortunately, sometimes there isn't a solution. Chioma Odimegwu, 25, is considering getting a hair transplant due to the extensions she once had.  Odimegwu first started with hair extensions when she was only 19.  After six years of hair extensions, it resulted in permanent hair loss.  When Chioma first started with extensions, her real hair was very thin and she was balding.  She decided to go back to get more extensions so that it would cover any bald spots.  But, the second time around, it only worsened the problem.  When she took out the new extensions, her  hair was very, very sparse.  Like Maya, Chioma decided to go to a hair loss specialist and see whether she had any options to keep her real hair.  She tried many different doctor-recommended products, such as female Rogaine, which tries to grow back hair. Nothing worked for Chioma, and now she has many bald spots and thinning hair.

Before I read this stories, I didn't think anything bad of hair extensions.  I thought that extensions were great for anyone who wants to have a few more inches of hair.  Now, knowing all this, would you still get hair extensions? Me personally, I wouldn't.  I love my hair too much to risk the chance of going bald. Plus, getting extensions professionally done can cost anywhere from $100 to $1,000 or more!

If I had a thousand dollars to spend, I would spend it on something that wouldn't thin my hair or cause me to go bald.  Everyone woman out there who is thinking of getting hair extensions should do some research first and try and find the safest way to get the beautiful hair they want!
